The Role
You will play a key role in the design and development of electronic hardware at board level, working across the full product lifecycle – from concept through to integration and delivery.
This is a varied role offering exposure to multiple projects and technologies, with opportunities to lead design activities and mentor junior engineers at senior and principal level.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and development of electronic circuits and PCB schematics for complex systems
- Ownership of hardware design activities from requirements through to validation
- Use of industry-standard CAD tools for schematic capture and PCB design
- Supporting system integration and hardware bring‑up activities
- Ensuring compliance with relevant industry and regulatory standards
- Contributing to design reviews and technical decision‑making
- Leading work packages and mentoring engineers (Senior / Principal level)
Key Skills & Experience
We’re looking for engineers with strong hardware design fundamentals and experience in schematic capture:
- Proven experience in schematic design for PCB‑based electronic systems
- Strong background in component‑level design (analogue and/or digital circuits)
- Experience using CAD tools such as Siemens Expedition (Mentor Graphics) or similar (e.g. Altium, Cadence, OrCAD)
- Understanding of full hardware development lifecycle
- Experience with signal integrity, EMC, and power design considerations
- Familiarity with testing, debugging, and validation of hardware designs
- Ability to translate requirements into detailed electronic designs
Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience in safety‑critical or regulated industries
- Exposure to FPGA, microprocessors, or embedded systems
- Knowledge of high‑speed design or mixed‑signal systems
About You
You will be a proactive and technically strong engineer who enjoys working in a collaborative environment:
- Degree‑qualified (or equivalent) in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or similar
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work on complex design challenges
- Capable of working independently and within multidisciplinary teams
- Effective communicator with the ability to influence technical decisions
- Demonstrates initiative, professionalism, and commitment to delivery
Principal‑level candidates will also bring
- Experience leading projects or technical workstreams
- Mentoring or coaching junior engineers
- Strong ownership of design decisions and delivery outcomes
What’s on Offer
- Work on complex, high‑reliability electronic systems
- A varied project environment with cutting‑edge technologies
- Clear career progression into technical leadership roles
- Support for professional development and Chartership (CEng)
- Competitive salary and benefits package
