Senior Engineer

Overview

Senior Engineer in our UK Regional Team delivering the features most critical to Xero’s success in the UK. You will respond to the voice of customers to ensure we have the right product for the UK and directly drive business value. You will independently solve complex problems across Xero’s products, balancing regional needs with global roadmaps to maximize value. You will join a high-calibre team consisting of an Engineering Manager, Lead Engineers, and Engineers, reporting to the General Manager of Engineering for the UK. The team is flexible and versatile, collaborating with product owners across Xero to design, build, and ship solutions. Travel opportunities may arise as we collaborate with colleagues around the world.

Responsibilities

• Deliver features critical to Xero’s success in the UK as part of the UK Regional Team.




• Respond to customer feedback to ensure the UK product meets business needs and drives value.




• Solve complex problems across Xero’s products, maintaining technical excellence while balancing regional and global roadmaps.




• Collaborate with the Engineering Manager, Lead Engineers, Engineers, and product owners to design, build, and ship solutions.




• Partner with global teams, with opportunities for travel as we work with colleagues worldwide.

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience in resilient software design and agile development to sustain fast-track delivery across diverse projects.




• Ability to ramp up quickly in new areas, mastering unfamiliar codebases and domain knowledge.




• Adept at navigating complex stakeholder environments and building consensus between globally distributed teams.




• Curious mindset focused on solving customer problems and delivering business value across multiple domains.




• Experience in coaching and mentoring others, leading by example in code quality, design discussions, and professional growth.




• Thrives in high-visibility environments, using strong communication to engage stakeholders and expand professional influence.
