Overview
Collins Aerospace is a global leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the aerospace and defence industry. This is a new role within Collins and an opportunity to be part of the ASG electric thrust reverser actuation centre of excellence, working as part of a team of technical innovators in the development of new technologies for next-generation aerospace nacelle actuation. The position will be located within a new bespoke facility in Wolverhampton, UK. Reporting to the ASG-UK Site Lead – Chief Engineer, you will deliver test evidence across prototype, qualification, and in-service phases for next-generation aerospace systems.
Responsibilities
- Plan, readiness activities, execution, and reporting of prototype and qualification testing.
- Interpret customer requirements into test definitions and formal test procedures for prototype and qualification tests.
- Generate and issue qualification/prototype test documentation.
- Create and execute test procedures on prototype hardware, in advance of design completion.
- Generate test equipment definitions to support prototype and qualification test activities.
- Sourcing and management of external suppliers, including test facilities, and equipment suppliers.
- Set up tests, build of test units, and mounting units in test rigs; commissioning and validation of test equipment.
- Perform functional acceptance tests of prototype units and conduct qualification testing, recording data throughout.
- Review test data against requirements and report outcomes; support failure investigations and drive corrective actions.
- Deliver and present results through clear written and oral communication.
- Coordinate off-site testing including transportation, assembly, and commissioning of support equipment.
- Oversee external test house operations and performance of functional tests during off-site testing.
- Support the maintenance of internal standard work and processes; collaborate across the team to identify synergies and best practices.
- Role based in a new Collins Aerospace facility in Wolverhampton with less than 10% international travel.
What You Must Have
- Qualified to degree level in mechanical or electrical engineering or appropriate experience within the discipline.
- Demonstrated development/test engineering experience.
- Working knowledge of electro-mechanical actuation and sensors.
- Experience in supporting failure investigations.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to a wide range of audiences.
- A passion for self-development and engineering excellence within a team.
Desirable skills
- Experience of aerospace qualification testing and reporting.
- Generation of test execution documentation.
- Ability to contribute to conceptual test planning.
- Execution planning of documentation and testing to support project milestones.
- Management of qualification testing (onsite and offsite).

Onsite: Employees who are working in onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This role is based in a new Collins Aerospace facility in Wolverhampton, UK, with <10% international travel.
