Overview

Laminar Projects is a high-end project management consultancy and tech developer focused on upgrading how construction projects are delivered. We emphasize transparency, control, and a pragmatic mix of the latest technology, our processes, and common sense to improve delivery. Our people are central to our approach and growth from a small team in 2017 to over 220 today.

We pursue a vision of flourishing teams and a mission to digitalise construction and enable a new type of organisation that supports human flourishing while delivering a positive societal impact.

The Role

Purpose of the role

You will enhance the delivery of the world’s most complex projects through project controls, serving as a senior leader who pushes discipline improvements within Laminar and across the industry.

Your team

This role is part of our Project Management Consultancy, focusing on:

  • Understanding the real problems of projects
  • Implementing effective solutions to those problems
  • Developing scalable best practices, tools, and technology

You will be part of our Project Controls Discipline Team, led initially by a project controls discipline director.

Your top three objectives

  1. Make construction projects deliver to near perfection
  2. Develop yourself and those around you
  3. Create scalable and repeatable solutions to common problems

Your top five responsibilities

  1. Own the controls: Own the controls for cost, schedule, change and risk on one or more projects to enable accurate decisions for project teams
  2. Develop everyone: Maximise development of your team and educate clients to improve as well
  3. Make scalable solutions: Develop scalable and repeatable best practices and tools in collaboration with the team for long-term impact
  4. Report and inform: Provide simple actionable reports to stakeholders at all levels to improve delivery efficiency
  5. Own the outcome: You may not be the project manager, but you are responsible for ensuring the project’s understanding and focus on the plan

You must have:

  • A construction engineering background: Solid capability in cost, schedule, and change control with experience in developing project controls processes and reporting aligned to objectives
  • Communication skills: Ability to engage construction teams, drive adoption of new approaches, and promote best practices
  • Leadership capabilities: Proven leader, coach, and developer of teams
  • Impact: Track record of implementing scalable, repeatable solutions with positive impact on complex projects

Laminar isn’t the place for you if any of the following is true:

  • You want an easy, chilled-out role without challenge
  • You prefer to be the smartest person in the room
  • You don’t like receiving constructive feedback
  • You prefer to work alone rather than as part of a team

Benefits

  • The standard stuff:
    • Health Insurance Scheme: Comprehensive private health coverage for you and your family
    • Pension Scheme: Competitive plan with salary sacrifice options
    • Bonus Scheme: Discretionary annual bonus based on performance
    • Professional body membership: One fee covered per year
    • Cycle to Work Scheme: Tax-efficient transportation
  • The life-changing stuff:
    • In-house coaching: Regular 1:1 coaching to support development
    • Equity upside: Opportunity to gain equity as the company grows
    • Flexible working: Focus on outcomes rather than clock-ins
    • Relentless development: Coaching, mentoring, and ongoing growth

Important! Applying properly

We welcome applications that include a letter explaining:

  • Why you want to join us
  • What you’ll bring to the team

We value people and will schedule a casual conversation to get to know you, followed by technical and personal assessments to align with our development matrix.
