Job Description
The Project Security Manager sits within the Security Management function and delivers security assurance to all projects in their respective government sector (e.g., Defence, Nuclear, or other Government departments). They are responsible for complete security assurance for all prospects and projects, protecting our client’s most sensitive assets.
As a Project Security Manager, you will play a key role in providing an excellent security assurance service to our clients while identifying improvements to existing security programmes and processes. The role manages all aspects of classified project delivery across Personnel, Physical and Information Security and is the focal point for all security assurance activity within the sector, providing targeted security direction and guidance as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Regular liaison with client security and project delivery teams to interpret, implement, and monitor client security requirements as outlined in contractual security schedules or Security Aspects Letters (SALs).
- Supporting the security accreditation and certification process for all external compliance requirements associated with the sector.
- Supporting the development and implementation of governance and processes associated with security assurance for the sector.
- Planning and delivery of assurance activities as required by contractual obligations, including induction briefings, project‑specific security briefings, supplier onboarding, and security awareness training.
- Measuring and assessing the performance and effectiveness of security controls, identifying and implementing solutions where corrective action and improvements are needed.
- Reviewing the competencies of WSP’s supply chain in all security assurance domains: Personnel, Physical and Information.
- Collaborating with business areas in the identification, management and mitigation of risks to WSP and its clients.
- Supporting the development and maturity of WSP’s Security Management System.
- Supporting investigations for all security incidents, including near misses, reported within the sector.
Qualifications
- Hold SC clearance or the ability to achieve it.
- Experience as a security manager or security controller in a regulated sector (e.g., Defence/Nuclear) is desirable.
- Demonstrable knowledge of HMG security documentation (e.g., GovS:007), frameworks, policy and controls is essential.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence peers and seniors on matters concerning project security compliance and assurance.
- Knowledge of risk management methodologies and practical experience applying them.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and deliver to tight timescales.
- A highly motivated and driven individual who adopts a flexible and adaptable approach.
