LOCATION: London (preferred), Leicester or Manchester – Hybrid (3 days onsite, 5 days onsite initially)

CLEARANCE: SC eligible

The ideal candidate will have active SC Clearance or be eligible to undergo SC Clearance.

We are actively looking to secure a Java Developer to join Experis.

Job Purpose / The Role:

You will join a major DWP programme as part of a large-scale application transformation initiative. This role focuses on supporting the refactoring and migration of existing applications into AWS, working closely with IBM and client-side teams.

As a Java Developer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and assuring application components, contributing to the successful delivery of a modernised, cloud-based solution.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and enhance Java-based applications as part of a cloud migration programme.
  • Support the refactoring of legacy applications for deployment into AWS.
  • Collaborate with IBM, client stakeholders, and wider programme teams.
  • Contribute to technical design and implementation of application components.
  • Ensure code quality, performance, and scalability.
  • Support testing and assurance activities across the development lifecycle.
  • Work within Agile delivery teams to meet programme milestones.

Your Skills:

  • Strong experience in Java development within enterprise environments.
  • Experience migrating or developing applications within AWS environments.
  • Understanding of application refactoring and modernisation approaches.
  • Experience working in large-scale programme or transformation environments.
  • Eligible for BPSS clearance (minimum 5 years UK residency and UK-based).
  • Strong stakeholder communication and teamwork skills.
