Job Purpose / The Role:
You will join a major DWP programme as part of a large-scale application transformation initiative. This role focuses on supporting the refactoring and migration of existing applications into AWS, working closely with IBM and client-side teams.
As a Java Developer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and assuring application components, contributing to the successful delivery of a modernised, cloud-based solution.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and enhance Java-based applications as part of a cloud migration programme.
- Support the refactoring of legacy applications for deployment into AWS.
- Collaborate with IBM, client stakeholders, and wider programme teams.
- Contribute to technical design and implementation of application components.
- Ensure code quality, performance, and scalability.
- Support testing and assurance activities across the development lifecycle.
- Work within Agile delivery teams to meet programme milestones.
Your Skills:
- Strong experience in Java development within enterprise environments.
- Experience migrating or developing applications within AWS environments.
- Understanding of application refactoring and modernisation approaches.
- Experience working in large-scale programme or transformation environments.
- Eligible for BPSS clearance (minimum 5 years UK residency and UK-based).
- Strong stakeholder communication and teamwork skills.
