Job overview

Welcome to Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust. We are inviting Newly Qualified and Experienced Band 5 Child Nurses to apply for positions across the Birmingham Children’s Hospital site. These roles are within the Medicine Division for a 6‑month fixed‑term contract to support winter pressures from October 2026 to March 2027. Only applicants who hold a recognised qualification in Children’s Nursing should apply for this role.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 6‑month fixed‑term contract to experience working in an acute clinical area within the Medicine Division. We care for patients from ages 0‑16, with a wide range of short‑ and long‑term acute conditions.

Qualifications

  • RN Child
  • NMC pin by 1st October 2026
  • Evidence of recent and ongoing professional development

Knowledge

  • Ability to deal with conflict situations

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Able to think quickly in a rapidly changing acute environment
  • Able to plan and prioritise daily workload to ensure high quality and safe care for children and young people
