Role Description
This is a permanent Night Shift roster – 4 on 4 off. The role involves effective & efficient maintenance of the plant, responding to breakdowns, planned maintenance and calibrations, recording all work, and ensuring continuity of production and services.
The responsibilities include proactive maintenance, minimizing engineering downtime, moving from breakdown to proactive approach, identifying root causes, coaching the team, improving performance through continuous improvement, and communicating effectively with all levels of colleagues, clients, suppliers, contractors and customers.
Principal Responsibilities
- Ensure safety, quality, and hygiene – adhere to H&S policies, LOTO, permit-to-work, and GMP standards.
- Support a culture of behavioural awareness to reduce accidents and near misses.
- Maintain and improve the planned maintenance system, monitoring progress.
- Record work on breakdowns, repairs, modifications, and ensure issues are tracked to closure.
- Update plant parameters and set‑points as per procedures.
- Assist with training and support other departments in the factory.
- Communicate with support functions, planning, manufacturing, and engineering stores regarding resources, projects and spare parts availability.
- Conduct shift briefings and ensure end‑of‑shift documentation.
Role Requirements
Essential knowledge, qualifications and experience
- Recognised competence in maintenance of FMCG machinery, pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical circuits.
- General understanding of PLC control systems used within the equipment.
- Electrical competence for diagnosis and repair of motors, control, and lighting systems.
- Computer literacy (SAP, Microsoft Office).
- Experience in CI environment.
- 18th Edition IEE Regulation qualification.
- Working experience in food manufacturing, knowledge of rotary and hydrostatic sterilising equipment, diagnostics of finished product damage.
Skills
- Mandatory: 5+ years hands‑on experience with rotary sterilising equipment, preferably FMC/JBT, including pumps and control valves.
- Basic PC skills.
Additional
- Experience with hydrostatic sterilisation equipment.
- Food Safety Level 2.
