Lead QA Engineer

Overview

Collaborating with peers and engaging with Software Engineers, Product Managers, and Delivery as part of cross-functional teams. Advocating for a quality-first mindset throughout the development process. Embedding quality into processes using relevant techniques and heuristics to ensure effective testing and feedback loops. You will be hands-on, working with engineers to test and measure quality as products are built. This is a hybrid role — you are expected to be in the (x) office at least 2 days a week, with occasional travel to other offices where required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with peers and cross-functional teams (Software Engineers, Product Managers, Delivery).
• Advocate for a quality-first mindset throughout the development process.
• Embed quality into processes and apply relevant testing techniques and heuristics to ensure effective testing and feedback loops.
• Be hands-on, testing and measuring quality as products are built.
• Operate in a hybrid environment with in-office expectations and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Requirements

• 5+ years within the quality engineering space.
• Proven experience in leading and coaching junior engineers on quality and embedding it into teams.
• Strong desire to continually improve, with innate curiosity and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to proactively identify and raise risks with team members and leadership, and collaborate to resolve issues.
• Strong understanding of testing techniques, heuristics, and processes — and how/when they are implemented during the development process.
• Strong understanding of test automation, its benefits, and how it should be implemented, including knowledge of pitfalls. Demonstrated experience implementing frameworks and development standards for green-field projects.
• Exposure to applications built with any of the following: Javascript/Typescript + Next/NestJS; testing frameworks such as Appium, Playwright, Supertest; performance/load tools such as K6/Artillery/JMeter; contract testing tools such as PACT; and observability tools such as Grafana or Datadog.
