Section Engineer

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Site Engineer in our Highways Division working on all elements of highways works (carriageway construction, surfacing, waterproofing structures, expansion joints, drainage, parapets, VRS, Ducting, etc). The role is based near Guildford and may require coverage across the National Highways Area which could include Hampshire and Oxford. The role may involve working both days and nights.

Responsibilities

• Set out using total stations, GPS equipment, and undertake traditional setting out using profiles, batter rail and pegs
• Read and review construction drawings
• Undertake basic take-offs
• Raise technical queries with designers and other members of the client team
• Carry out relevant inspections and testing to ensure conformance of the works with the design and specification

Qualifications and Requirements

• Understanding of ITPs and quality assurance processes and working with specification documents
• Good leadership skills and understanding of construction practices; able to work independently
• Minimum of 2 years setting-out experience on infrastructure projects, preferably highways, with a main contractor
• CSCS card in the appropriate discipline
• Civil Engineering degree or equivalent (desirable)
• SSSTS card, First Aid, NRWSA and Cat and Genny
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the region
