About the Role
We are seeking a Specialist Engineer to join our Brownhills depot, supporting operations across the Birmingham area. This is a key technical role focused on providing high-level expertise, supporting both customers and internal teams, and ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of Volvo construction equipment.
This role plays a critical part in driving technical excellence across the business. You will act as a subject matter expert, supporting complex diagnostics, improving service delivery, and sharing knowledge across teams to enhance overall performance and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact for technical queries relating to Volvo construction equipment
- Provide expert guidance to ensure optimal machine performance and compliance with safety standards
- Carry out advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Deliver technical training and presentations to internal teams and customers
- Support the development and implementation of new processes and tools to improve service efficiency
- Monitor equipment performance, providing insight and recommendations for improvements
- Work cross-functionally to ensure seamless service delivery and a high level of customer satisfaction
- Stay up to date with product developments, systems, and industry standards
Qualifications
You are a highly experienced engineer with strong technical expertise and a passion for problem‑solving. You enjoy sharing knowledge, supporting others, and playing a key role in improving service standards while maintaining a strong focus on quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
- Formal engineering qualification (mechanical, electrical, automotive or similar)
- Extensive experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy construction equipment, ideally Volvo
- Strong diagnostic capability with in‑depth knowledge of hydraulics and electrical systems
- Confident communicator, able to engage effectively with both customers and internal stakeholders
- Proactive problem‑solver with a continuous improvement mindset
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Advanced knowledge of Volvo systems and technologies
