You’ll be joining a multi‑award winning team, recognised with the Times Higher Education Award for ‘Outstanding Contribution to Environmental Leadership’. As our Electrical Engineer, you’ll play a key role in shaping and maintaining the University’s electrical infrastructure, helping us deliver our Strategy 2030 and net zero commitments. You’ll join a collaborative Estates team and work across the University to ensure our electrical systems are safe, compliant, efficient and ready for the future.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the University’s lead technical specialist for electrical services, providing expert advice and guidance on legislation, regulations and industry standards.
- Lead statutory electrical compliance activities, ensuring inspection, testing and servicing programmes are delivered effectively.
- Support planned and reactive maintenance by interpreting technical findings and identifying effective solutions.
- Develop and prioritise programmes of work that improve safety, compliance, energy performance and user experience.
- Support the development of safe systems of work, procedures and operational standards.
What You’ll Bring
You bring strong technical expertise in electrical engineering, together with experience delivering maintenance, compliance and improvement works across complex environments. You’ll apply your knowledge with a practical and collaborative approach, ensuring environments are safe, efficient and support the needs of our community.
Additionally, You’ll Bring
- Proven experience managing and conducting electrical system condition surveys.
- Experience developing planned maintenance programmes and delivering electrical remedial or refurbishment works.
- Strong knowledge of statutory compliance requirements, electrical engineering standards and building regulations.
- Well‑developed organisational, project management and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across a broad range of teams.
- A commitment to sustainability, continuous improvement and delivering excellent customer‑focused services.
