Senior / Field Service Engineer – Water Sector

Overview

My Client is recruiting for a Field Service Engineer and Senior Field Service Engineer in the Water Sector. Location: Leeds and surrounding areas. Salary: £39-50K depending on experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in both on site and in-house solution development
• Safe and efficient delivery of the solutions to complete all projects on time and to budget
• Delegate the daily workloads of operational teams and individual team members both on site and whilst in the Company HUBs
• Act as a bridge between the operational workforce and the senior management team by effectively and accurately communicating company/workforce information, goals and needs
• Liaise closely with Project Managers to aid in job package costings when necessary (e.g., specific material/equipment/plant/labour/manufacturing prices required to complete a project)
• Use ICT skills to keep digital contract/project files updated, ensuring all relevant information is stored correctly and in a timely manner
• Liaise closely with Project Managers and senior management to accurately deliver all projects/work, effectively communicating/processing/documenting all relevant information
• Conduct toolbox talks, discuss potential hazards, near misses, dangerous occurrences to improve safety within the teams and wider company
• Ensure the highest standards of work are met daily throughout the operational teams
• Conduct initial site visits, collecting and documenting all valid information regarding a given enquiry/contract to support accurate project estimating and technical discussion with the Project Managers and Senior Management team
• Actively contribute to meetings/discussions around training, personnel development, promotions, safety concerns, and commercial concerns/opportunities
• Provide a point of escalation on-site for all positive outcomes, problems and/or decisions. Escalate these back to the Project Managers/Senior Management when/where necessary
• Help plan team selections for specific projects/tasks to ensure the right skillsets are distributed amongst the team to achieve successful outcomes
• Analyse and solve engineering problems and carry out engineering work to ensure projects are safely and successfully delivered
• On-site record keeping and site management; be the point of contact for clients on site and ensure all relevant documentation is accounted for (e.g., site inductions, correct site cards/training/qualifications, permit/handover documentation, confined space records, toolbox talk/think plans)
• Ensure all company policies are adhered to (e.g., PPE use, vehicles, staff behaviour on site and when working away)
• Compile reports, technical drawings, and detailed information collection of site observations and further working requirements. This list is not exhaustive, and you may be required to perform other duties as necessary to fulfil the role

Experience and Qualifications

• Technical capabilities, knowledge and experience within the Utilities Industry (demonstrated/documented/proven)
• Ideally experience working in the Water Sector on Pumping Stations and/or Wastewater Treatment Works
• Engineering qualifications: Degree/HNC/HND or similar, ideally in Mechanical or related Engineering field
• Self-motivated with strong leadership and interpersonal skills
• Promoting, developing, and ensuring best health and safety practices across all aspects of the company’s operations
• Act as an ambassador for the company, supporting and promoting the company goals, vision, strategy and values
• Work as an integral operational team member to support and achieve company goals, promoting the highest standards of behaviour, attitude and leadership
• Commit to ongoing professional development and enhancing skills and knowledge for the benefit of all
• Use knowledge and experience to teach and develop other operational staff to help future proof the company
• A Full Driving Licence is required
• Strong proven background and experience in multiple areas of the following
  • Mechanical engineering
  • Ideally rope access / confined space rescue
  • Pipe repairs (internal, external)
  • Fabrication/manufacture
  • Design understanding
  • Site management would be beneficial
