Overview

The Security Systems Service Engineer (Bristol) maintains, services, and repairs a range of CCTV, intruder, and access control systems. This full-time role offers a salary between £38,000 and £43,000 plus overtime and callout allowances. The role requires professional engineering expertise to diagnose faults and perform root-cause analysis under deadline pressure, while delivering excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise in fault finding and repairs of PC/Network-based and analogue security systems, with knowledge of high-end software packages.
  • Support a range of CCTV systems from small setups to large multi-site installations with PC-based Digital Recorders.
  • Understand fibre optic transmission systems, LAN/WAN networks, and radio telemetry to effectively remedy faults.
  • Liaise with higher-grade engineers where required.
  • Provide emergency solutions out of hours as specified on the departmental rota.
  • Collaborate with all parts of the business to ensure the scope of works is delivered in line with customer expectations.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the business activities.
  • Pursue personal development and participate in performance reviews and development plans.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge through internal and external training.
  • Operate according to business-specific applications and processes (e.g., order submission, stock control, timesheet submission, job closing).
  • Travel between sites during the working day.

Qualifications and Skills

  • NVQ 3 in Electronic Security or equivalent proven experience.
  • Knowledge of Access control, CCTV, Intercom, and Intruder systems.
  • Knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft OS.
  • Knowledge of digital electronics principles and systems.
  • Health and Safety awareness relevant to security systems.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP and other network fundamentals.

Benefits and Conditions

Overtime and contractual call-out arrangements apply. Basic pay range: £32,000–£40,000 (subject to experience and training credentials). Standard hours: 40 per week.
