Overview

Harris City Academy Crystal Palace is a mixed Academy for 1,300 students aged 11–18, with a large sixth form. The Academy has four consecutive Outstanding judgments by Ofsted, with the most recent inspection in 2025 finding it Outstanding in every category. Responsibilities

  • Appoint and manage the Learning Resources Centre (LRC) to maintain a professional, stimulating and tidy learning environment and foreground student achievements.
  • Manage, organise and supervise the Learning Resources Centre.
  • Ensure learning resources equipment is well maintained and report computer faults promptly.
  • Contribute to presentation and consultation evenings and meet with parents to encourage reading beyond curriculum time.
  • Provide advice to staff, students and the community on Learning Resources.
  • Devise and offer INSET activities in teaching and learning techniques and training in the use of Learning Resource materials.
  • Liaise with the English and media teams and external providers to publicise and organise an annual book week.
  • Liaise with the English and media teams to organise frequent visits from writers to raise the profile of reading and writing for pleasure.
  • Liaise with other information agencies, including other resource areas and LRC managers across the Federation.
  • Develop and implement study and information skills linked into the curriculum.
  • Participate in community links, including opening out of academy hours.
  • Keep robust records to enable efficient management of resources across the academy.
  • Monitor, evaluate and review the use and development of the area.
  • Devise intervention programmes to support and challenge targeted students to accelerate reading skills.
  • Analyse data and provide detailed reports to evaluate student progress.
  • Support English and Mathematics GCSEs or equivalent requirements.

Qualifications and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of the National Curriculum, particularly for English.
  • Experience of managing a library service.

Salary

GBP 31,000 – 42,000 per year
