Job Description:

The EHS Manager will provide expert advice and guidance to site operations, employees, and contractors on the implementation and continuous improvement of the company’s Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) management system. The role is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements while driving a proactive safety culture that minimizes workplace incidents, environmental impacts, and operational risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the Plant Manager and work closely with the Global EHS function to support business objectives and EHS strategy.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain site EHS programs aligned with the company’s EHS management framework.
  • Establish and manage site-specific EHS programs including:
  • Electrical safety
  • Safe systems of work
  • Hazardous waste management
  • EHS training
  • Ergonomics
  • Contractor safety
  • Machinery safety
  • Chemical safety
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Crisis management
  • Collaborate with operational and functional leaders to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement appropriate control measures.
  • Manage occupational injury and illness cases and implement initiatives to reduce incident rates.
  • Coordinate and oversee all mandatory EHS training requirements for site personnel.
  • Develop and manage site audit and inspection programmes, ensuring corrective actions are completed within agreed timeframes.
  • Promote and embed the company’s EHS strategy across the site.
  • Conduct EHS culture assessments and implement action plans to strengthen safety performance.
  • Develop and maintain contractor management processes to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Manage site security processes and ensure compliance with internal requirements.
  • Implement proactive occupational health, wellbeing, and ergonomics initiatives.
  • Provide EHS support across all operational areas, including customer-specific requirements where applicable.
  • Share best practices and provide support to other operational sites.
  • Manage EHS resources effectively while promoting competency development and leadership.
  • Support the introduction of new technologies and processes through effective Management of Change (MOC) procedures.
  • Provide EHS guidance for site modifications and construction activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all local environmental, health, and safety legislation and company standards.
  • Manage environmental compliance programmes including:
  • Air emissions
  • Hazardous waste
  • Wastewater management
  • Ensure emergency response and business continuity plans are maintained and regularly tested.
  • Prepare and submit all required EHS compliance reports to internal stakeholders and regulatory authorities.
  • Stay up to date with changing EHS legislation and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify and mitigate safety risks.
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of all EHS data, records, and reporting.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Environmental Science, Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an EHS role within manufacturing, construction, industrial, field service, or engineering environments.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable environmental, health, and safety legislation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additional local language skills are advantageous.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Previous leadership or management experience is desirable.
  • Experience working within a matrix organisation.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
