Overview
The Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer (weekend days) is a permanent role in Newcastle upon Tyne offering up to £48,810 per annum plus benefits. This hands-on engineering position supports automated production lines through electrical and mechanical fault finding, reliability improvements, and safety-focused maintenance. Working weekend days, the role includes mechanical upkeep of automated equipment, involvement in capital expenditure upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives. A mechanical bias is preferred, with experience in welding, turning, or fabrication advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Perform electrical and mechanical fault finding on automated production lines and equipment.
- Carry out reliability improvements and implement preventative maintenance plans.
- Support CAPEX upgrades and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Carry out mechanical maintenance on automated production equipment; welding, turning or fabrication as applicable.
- Ensure safety-focused maintenance practices and report issues.
Qualifications
- Engineering qualification (essential).
- Mechanical bias preferred (welding, turning, fabrication experience).
- Manufacturing or industrial background.
- Confident fault finding and repair capability.
Shift Pattern
Saturday 12 hour day shift (6am–6pm), Sunday 12 hour day shift (6am–6pm), plus 1 additional day during the week (to be confirmed) and 1 additional 6-hour shift per month to cover contracted hours.
