Overview
Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat® and Perkins engines that power more than 5000 applications, including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. IPSD focuses on sustainability and is actively preparing green energy solutions for the future.
We are seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented professional who is passionate about precision measurement, continuous improvement, and delivering excellence. You will develop measurement plans, create CMM programs, perform complex gauge calibration, and interpret engineering drawings to support accurate inspection and reporting. You will help maintain the highest quality standards and provide detailed reports for internal stakeholders and external third parties, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Define measurement plans required to measure a specific component.
- Create CMM programs to enable measurement of components.
- Perform complex gauge calibration.
- Read and interpret drawings to enable program creation.
- Provide accurate reports to internal and external customers, including written reports suitable for external use (3rd party).
- Follow standard processes to maintain a high-quality standard and ensure that zero defects are passed to downstream customers.
- Maintain visual awareness to identify defective components and assemblies.
- Identify quality and process problems and raise continuous improvement (CI) cards with resolution ideas demonstrating depth of process and product knowledge.
- Demonstrate the ability to motivate, influence, drive compliance and continuous improvement.
- Work at the Peterborough facility with shift work as required by business needs.
Qualifications
- Experience of using CMM equipment utilizing Calypso software.
- Experience of using Klingelberg measuring equipment.
- Experience with Talysurf I series and Metrology 4.0 software.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings to enable program creation.
- Good working knowledge of engineering, design and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent in the use of Office 365 applications with particular attention to analysis.
- HNC or higher in a Technical or Engineering qualification.
- Previous experience in Metrology/Measurement/Quality.
- Good working knowledge of Quality Standards and Manufacturing Operations.
Location & Work Pattern
This role is based at the Peterborough facility and will require shift work in line with business requirements.
