Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week

Location: Wantage

Job Overview

You will act as an ambassador for Cancer Research UK, motivating your team to maximise sales and fundraising targets. Your shop will be a place where your community meets our people, understands our brand, and sees the great impact of our work.

Responsibilities

  • Guide, inspire and engage a team of paid staff and volunteers, including recruitment, retention and development of a diverse shop team.
  • Take ownership and responsibility for the commercial running of the store, including display, merchandising, stock management, store standards, layout, sales and income.
  • Lead by example and provide excellent customer and supporter service.
  • Maximise profit through effective cost control and sales.
  • Create relationships with the local community and Cancer Research UK colleagues.
  • Organise and run creative fundraising events to achieve fundraising targets.
  • Maintain compliance with health and safety, safeguarding, security, administration and HR policies.
  • Spend four weeks in a training shop to learn from a Training Shop Manager (may be at a different location).

Skills and Experience

  • Experience of managing and inspiring a diverse team of people.
  • Comfort working within targets and motivating others to achieve those targets.
  • Ability to multi‑task in a lively environment.
  • Working knowledge of what makes great customer service.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Knowledge of high‑street fashion retail.
  • Adaptability in changing situations, including the ability to work effectively independently.
  • Awareness of the price, value and worth of items.
  • Ideally experience of retail management.
