Network Automation Architect

The Barclays Automation & Tools Engineering team is responsible for the design, build and operate of the underlying network infrastructure and toolchain across cloud, data centre, campus and branch that are required to run the Barclays Global Network at scale.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement orchestration and activation of resources/services using industry-standard catalogue models such as YANG, TOSCA, HEAT templates, and YAML-based automation (e.g., Ansible).
• Product development experience and hands-on involvement across the full software/product lifecycle.
• Experience with Python programming, microservices architecture, FastAPI, Ansible or Terraform.
• Experience with Netmiko or similar network automation libraries including Netconf/YANG-based automation.
• Understand network technology fundamentals, data structures, scalable system design, and the ability to translate information for wider product and engineering teams.
• Knowledge of DevOps tooling, GitOps, CI/CD, configuration management, Jenkins, build pipelines and source control systems.
• Ample network knowledge (CCNA or similar); virtualization/infrastructure domain experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure services: compute, storage, networking, hybrid connectivity, monitoring/logging, security and IAM.
• Proficiency in Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban), backlog and workflow management.

Qualifications/Experience

• Demonstrable experience designing and implementing solutions for orchestration and activation of resources/services.
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals and scalable system design.
• Ability to translate technical information for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
