Role Overview
The role reports to the Chief Executive Officer and will be accountable for providing strategic leadership on the development and delivery of high‑quality clinical pathways and models of care. Extensive collaborative work with the wider Clinical Executive team, including the Chief Nursing and Allied Health Officer and Chief Operating Officer, will be required. The CMO will chair the Professional Council, lead on professional standards for medical staff, and oversee medical workforce governance.
As a central figure in shaping Sirona’s medical strategy, the CMO will work closely with voluntary, community and third‑sector organisations, fostering preventative and proactive medicine. External influencing, networking and partnership building with trusted allies will be essential, as will generating or securing research opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership on clinical pathways and models of care.
- Chair the Professional Council and lead professional standards for medical staff.
- Govern medical workforce and maintain quality standards.
- Develop overall medical strategy and align it with organisational priorities.
- Maintain strong, mutually credible alliances with external partners.
- Generate or secure research opportunities.
- Build effective relationships with clinicians, partners and stakeholders across the wider system.
- Contribute as a senior leader to setting and delivering wider organisational strategy.
- Develop a strong business plan and oversee robust financial management.
- Lead a culture of strong governance, risk management and astute oversight.
Qualifications and Experience
- Credible, experienced senior clinical leader with a track record of improving outcomes and addressing health inequalities.
- Demonstrated ability to lead across organisational and system boundaries.
- Sophisticated strategic insight combined with a collaborative and inclusive leadership style.
- Strong personal commitment to Sirona’s values and culture.
