Position
Medical Secretary – Urology Service – University Hospital Ayr. Fixed‑term, 12 months.
Hours
28.8 hours working over 5 days.
What You Will Do
Provide a comprehensive medical secretarial service to Consultants and Clinical Teams, organising Consultants’ workload and serving as the main point of contact between clinical staff and service users.
Qualifications and Skills
- Relevant secretarial qualification, e.g. AMSPAR Diploma for Medical Secretaries, RSA or Scotvec qualification, and equivalent secretarial experience.
- Accurate audio‑typing skills.
- Excellent standard of written and spoken English.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft software packages.
- Ability to acquire knowledge of medical terminology.
- Demonstrated ability to manage time, prioritise workload and be flexible in working practices.
- Ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with a wide range of disciplines and the general public.
- In‑depth knowledge of specialist area to enhance organisational and analytical skills in response to service demands.
- Ability to work in a team environment or on own initiative.
