Overview

Role requiring supporting children in daily routines, documenting tasks, and working as a Keyworker within residential care. The role includes shift work, sleep-in shifts, and travel between Residential Homes as needed. Full UK driving license preferred and a DBS check is required.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily routines for children, including getting them up, promoting personal hygiene, meals, school runs or activities.
  • Assist with room cleaning and development of life skills/independence; promote socialisation and bedtime routines.
  • Attend medical and other appointments and assist with activity planners.
  • Complete day sheets, handover documents, daily paperwork, and budgeting requirements.
  • Perform daily room checks and house cleaning tasks; handle food shopping, meal preparation, kitchen hygiene, and laundry duties.
  • Conduct checks such as COSHH, fire checks, and vehicle checks (CAR checks).
  • Liaise with families to understand special dates for boys and plan family time contacts.
  • Act as a Keyworker and support targets and plans as outlined.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Qualified Care Worker with proven completion of a Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare, or equivalent; or willing to work towards the required qualification within 18 months.
  • Minimum age 21 years old; full UK driving license preferable.
  • Availability for sleep-in shifts; flexibility for shift work is essential.
  • Understanding of issues facing young people in care.
  • Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma/Children and Young People’s Workforce/NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent, or willingness to study toward it.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills; willing to learn; able to work well in a small team.
  • Willing to undertake enhanced DBS check; DBS check paid by the employer if selected.
  • Experience with Emotional Behavioural Disorder, Social/Residential Work, or Youth Work is advantageous.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence and ability to cover at other Residential Homes as needed.
