Role Description
The Night Construction Worker role is a full-time, on‑site position based in Bristol, working primarily during night shifts. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include assisting with road and highway maintenance, preparing and leveling ground surfaces, laying paving materials, and operating basic construction tools and equipment under supervision. The role involves setting up and dismantling work areas, loading and unloading materials, and following site plans and instructions from supervisors and site managers. Night Construction Workers are expected to adhere to all health and safety procedures, use personal protective equipment correctly, and help maintain a clean, organized, and secure worksite. Team members collaborate closely with colleagues, communicate clearly about site conditions, and may support traffic management and signage setup as required.
Qualifications
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of groundwork or construction practices, such as surface preparation, use of hand tools, and safe handling of materials.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations on construction sites, including correct use of PPE and adherence to safe working methods.
- Willingness and reliability to work consistent night shifts, with strong time management and punctuality.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to follow instructions and coordinate tasks with colleagues and supervisors.
- Prior experience in paving, highway maintenance, or general construction is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CSCS card, basic health and safety training) are an advantage.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transport to and from Bristol sites are preferred.
