Role Description
This full-time Social Worker role is based in Weston-Super-Mare with a hybrid working arrangement, allowing some duties to be carried out from home. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing the needs of children, adults, and families, developing support plans, and coordinating appropriate care and safeguarding interventions. The role involves carrying out visits, working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues and partner agencies, and advocating for individuals to access services that promote wellbeing, independence, and safety. The Social Worker will maintain accurate case records, prepare reports for meetings and legal processes, and contribute to multi-agency reviews and care planning. The post also supports continuous service improvement by sharing good practice, reflecting on outcomes, and participating in supervision and professional development.
Qualifications
- Professional social work qualification (e.g., degree or equivalent) and registration with the relevant UK social work regulatory body.
- Experience in statutory social work settings, including safeguarding, risk assessment, and care planning for children, adults, or families.
- Strong assessment, analysis, and report-writing skills, with the ability to manage a varied caseload and meet statutory timescales.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build trusting relationships, work collaboratively with partners, and engage with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of relevant social care legislation, guidance, and local procedures, including safeguarding frameworks and person-centred practice.
- Competence in using digital case management systems and standard office software to record, monitor, and share information securely.
- Ability to work flexibly in a hybrid model, including community visits in North Somerset and remote work from home when appropriate.

- Beneficial: Experience of working within local authority teams, familiarity with multi-agency working, and a full driving licence or ability to travel within the area.
