Location: Elm Grove Care Home, Somerford Road, Cirencester, GL7 1TX

Contract: Permanent – Part Time | Hours: 11 hours per week, 2 × 5.5 hour days | Salary: £13.40 per hour | CQC rating: Good | Carehome.co.uk rating: 9.7 / 10

As a Maintenance Support Operative, your primary responsibility will be ensuring that our facilities remain fully functional. You will maintain buildings and equipment effectively while complying with all relevant Bupa Standard Operating Procedures, legislation, and industry best practices. Your role is crucial in ensuring our accommodation meets Bupa’s cultural and brand values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all health and safety and compliance checks are carried out using provided digital systems according to Bupa Standard Operating Procedures and compliance management tools.
  • Action and close any tasks attributed to the Maintenance Manager or home highlighted on Bupa compliance management tools.
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness within the care home and grounds to meet Environmental Health, local Fire Authority and Health & Safety regulations.
  • Complete all necessary maintenance and repair tasks to a high standard, timely and cost‑effective, ensuring internal decoration meets the organisation’s vision.
  • Review residents’ preferences regarding their personal space, document and act on them.
  • Report defects, obtain quotes, and manage repairs using Bupa approved contractors, complying with Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Report irreparable defects to Home Manager or Property/Maintenance Manager.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained and securely stored.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Good understanding of building services.
  • Sound knowledge of building fabric and its maintenance.
  • Practical experience of planned maintenance systems and record keeping.
  • Knowledge of relevant statutory requirements and experience of compliance.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
  • Computer literate.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Flexibility to meet changing demands within the care home.
  • Practical ability and experience in painting and decorating.
