Overview

Teaching Assistant – permanent, 25 hours per week, Level 4 (Actual salary £14,880 – £15,965). This position is at St Mary’s Catholic Academy, part of the St Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Multi Academy Trust.

We are seeking to appoint a dedicated, hardworking and committed Teaching Assistant to join our enthusiastic and supportive team. The role supports children with their learning and contributes to a positive educational journey within a Catholic ethos.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils individually and in small groups, adapting provision daily to ensure access to an inclusive and engaging curriculum.
  • Demonstrate a proactive, flexible and nurturing approach, responding effectively to the changing needs of pupils and helping them achieve their full potential.
  • Work closely with class teachers and school staff to support quality first teaching, deliver effective interventions and help pupils make good progress towards their learning goals.
  • Foster positive relationships with parents and carers, helping to maintain strong and effective partnerships between home and school.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and external partners where appropriate to provide the best possible support for pupils.
  • Promote high expectations of behaviour and learning, supporting pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development in line with the Catholic ethos and values of the school.

Essential Requirements

  • Hold an NVQ Level 2 qualification for Teaching Assistants (or equivalent recognised qualification).
  • Experience of working with primary-aged children, ideally within a Key Stage 2 setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to supporting the Catholic life and mission of the school.

Desirable Requirements

  • Relevant training and/or experience in supporting children’s learning and development within a primary school environment.
  • Understanding of effective strategies that promote pupil engagement, independence and achievement.

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday during term time, in accordance with the school’s agreed working hours.
