Overview
Cheshire West Recycling is recruiting for a Heavy Plant Technician (Fitter) to take responsibility for the maintenance, inspection, diagnostics and the repair of Cheshire West Recycling plant vehicles, including: JCB material handlers, CAT loading shovels, FLTs, conveyors, screens, bailers, hydraulic systems and fixed processing plant (Materials Recovery Facility MRF).
Responsibilities
The role will deliver planned preventative maintenance, breakdowns, statutory inspections, fault diagnosis, and reactive repairs across the recycling plant. The Heavy Plant Technician will take a proactive and preventative approach to identifying defects and emerging issues to maximise operational activities to reduce avoidable operational downtime and cost. All work must be carried out to required technical, safety, and quality standards, and accurately recorded using approved systems.
Qualifications
The role will require knowledge of:
- Electrical fault finding
- Welding/fabrication
- Bearings, gearboxes and conveyors
- PLC awareness (even if not programming)
Must have a valid full UK driving licence up to HGV standard.
