Overview
Our Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team is central to Amazon’s commitment to innovation. As a Senior RME Technician, you’ll help us stay one step ahead by adopting the latest technologies and identifying efficient ways of working. You will pay close attention to processes to maintain high standards and implement upgrades to raise those standards further.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate best practice in using equipment safely and monitor teams to ensure correct processes are followed.
- Track equipment performance through visual checks, condition-based monitoring, and preventative maintenance tasks; schedule additional servicing when required.
- Supervise technicians on shift to support their development and act as the first point of contact for Reliability Maintenance Engineers.
- Solve equipment issues to reduce downtime for operations so packages can be processed quickly.
- Support efforts to continually improve systems and standardise processes across the EU network.
- A day in the life: lead a shift to ensure equipment readiness, monitor regulatory and policy compliance, and ensure preventive maintenance is carried out to increase uptime. Observe shifts, suggest improvements, and implement them across an EU-wide function. Monitor processes with SCADA and assist with admin tasks in collaboration with your line manager.
- Role location: one of our operational sites. You will work shift patterns that may include weekends and nights.
Qualifications
- High school or equivalent diploma; NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics, or completion of a 4-year UK certified apprenticeship; or equivalent engineering indentured apprenticeship.
- Flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
- Experience in automated conveyor systems and controls, electrical and electronic principles, preventative maintenance procedures, blueprint and schematic reading, industrial electrical/electronics, PLCs, NEC, and work order management.
- Experience using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) to plan proactive maintenance and record reactive tasks.
- Relevant experience in a technical leadership role and in both electrical and mechanical disciplines.
- Relevant experience in automation or material handling equipment environments.
- Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Mechatronics or a related technical field.
- Experience in vendor management and with robotic maintenance.
- Experience leading engineering teams as a mentor or tech lead.
- Experience working with material handling equipment safety standards in accordance with OEM requirements.
