SEN Teacher — Location: Darlington | Salary: £140-£190 per day (dependent on experience) | Start Date: September 2026 | Contract Type: Full-Time / Flexible
About the Role
A welcoming and inclusive school in Darlington is seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher to join their team. This role is ideal for a passionate educator who is committed to supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and helping them achieve their full potential both academically and personally.
Responsibilities
- Planning and delivering differentiated lessons to meet individual pupil needs.
- Teaching pupils with a range of SEN, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH and learning difficulties.
- Creating and implementing individual learning plans and targeted interventions.
- Monitoring, assessing and tracking pupil progress.
- Promoting positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and engagement in learning.
- Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, the SENCO, parents and external agencies.
- Adapting teaching strategies and resources to support individual learning needs.
- Maintaining high standards of safeguarding and pupil welfare.
The Ideal Candidate
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Have experience teaching pupils with SEN within a UK school setting.
- Have a strong understanding of SEND legislation and inclusive teaching practices.
- Be patient, adaptable and passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs.
- Have excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply).
- Have a fully checkable work history.
