Overview

SEN Teacher — Location: Darlington | Salary: £140-£190 per day (dependent on experience) | Start Date: September 2026 | Contract Type: Full-Time / Flexible

About the Role

A welcoming and inclusive school in Darlington is seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher to join their team. This role is ideal for a passionate educator who is committed to supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and helping them achieve their full potential both academically and personally.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and delivering differentiated lessons to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Teaching pupils with a range of SEN, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH and learning difficulties.
  • Creating and implementing individual learning plans and targeted interventions.
  • Monitoring, assessing and tracking pupil progress.
  • Promoting positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and engagement in learning.
  • Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, the SENCO, parents and external agencies.
  • Adapting teaching strategies and resources to support individual learning needs.
  • Maintaining high standards of safeguarding and pupil welfare.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Have experience teaching pupils with SEN within a UK school setting.
  • Have a strong understanding of SEND legislation and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Be patient, adaptable and passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs.
  • Have excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply).
  • Have a fully checkable work history.
