The Apprenticeship

Key Responsibility Areas
- Commit to successful completion of all academic modules and assignments to achieve the Data Scientist Apprenticeship Standard (ST0585), including a BSc (Hons) Data Science.
- Build expertise in data science and software engineering by rotating through different areas of the business and contributing to Integrated Project Teams.
- Develop practical skills in designing, building and maintaining software solutions, focusing on data‑driven systems and complex applications.
- Gain strong understanding of key software engineering principles, data science methodologies and modern technologies used to process and analyse data.
- Support early careers initiatives, possibly acting as a STEM ambassador and engaging with schools, colleges and universities to inspire future talent.
Qualifications and Entry Criteria
This apprenticeship requires little professional engineering experience and is not suitable for candidates who already have an engineering, software or computing degree.
You must have as a minimum:
- 120 UCAS points including Maths and at least one other STEM subject (3 B’s at A’ Level or equivalent).
- Five GCSE grades 9‑4 / A*‑C or equivalent, inclusive of Maths, English and a Science.
During the apprenticeship, spend at least 3–4 days a week on site to integrate with your team and maximise learning experience.
