Overview

Senior Attendance Officer – Family Outreach Worker: a proactive, compassionate and highly organised role focused on improving student attendance, breaking down barriers to learning, and supporting families to achieve the best outcomes for their children.

Responsibilities

  • Promote excellent attendance by engaging with students, families, school staff and external agencies.
  • Deliver targeted family support to address barriers to learning.
  • Analyse attendance data, identify trends, and implement effective intervention strategies.
  • Build positive relationships through home visits and ongoing outreach.
  • Collaborate with schools, families, and external partners to support safeguarding and student well‑being.
  • Monitor progress and adjust approaches to ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Excellent communication skills and a passion for safeguarding and supporting young people.
  • Proactive, compassionate, and highly organised with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience using data to inform decisions and drive attendance improvements.
  • Ability to build rapport with students, families and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.

Job Details

  • Hours of Work: 37 Hours per Week, Term Time Only.
  • Position Type: Permanent Post.
  • Line Manager: Vice Principal.
  • Travel Required: Yes.
  • Salary: dependent on current qualifications and experience (see attached job description for details).
