Overview

Psychology Assistant — Division of Psychological Medicine and Clinical Neurosciences, School of Medicine, College of Biomedical and Life Sciences, Cardiff University. Based at Cardiff University’s Hadyn Ellis Building.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Psychology Assistant to join the Division of Psychological Medicine and Clinical Neurosciences. The post is part of the Mental Health Goals (MHG) Omics programme, a UK-wide initiative funded by the UK Government, aiming to revolutionise understanding and treatment of severe mental illness. The project will establish a world-leading multi-omic cohort of people with psychosis and mood disorders, linked to extensive clinical and real-world health data. Led by a collaborative team spanning Cardiff University, University of Cambridge, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust, University of Edinburgh, and King’s College London, MHG Omics offers an opportunity to contribute to a pioneering programme with the potential to change lives and shape the future of mental healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with a range of study-related tasks, including recruitment and conducting assessments of people diagnosed with psychosis, including clinical interviews, questionnaires and venepuncture.
  • Support general day-to-day activities associated with a large multidisciplinary study.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Psychology or a related field.
  • Experience of recruiting patients to research studies would be advantageous.
  • Good collaboration with the world-leading Centre for Neuropsychiatric Genetics and Genomics and the Division of Psychological Medicine and Clinical Neurosciences in Cardiff University.

Working arrangements

This role is eligible to be offered on a blended working basis, including time on campus and from another location (e.g., home). The University supports flexible working where the role and business needs allow.
