Overview

Teaching Assistant TA2 — Barnsley, South Yorkshire. £19,192 – £19,493 actual annual salary. 33 hours per week, term time only, including 5 inset days.

Greenacre School is one of the UK’s largest special schools, educating over 300 children and young people aged 3 to 19 with severe and complex learning disabilities. The Role

As a Grade 2 Teaching Assistant (TA2) you will provide more than classroom support. You will build connections, foster relationships and guide pupils on their path to a bright future. Under the guidance of a teacher, you will support the academic and personal development of children throughout the school day. Responsibilities include:

  • Getting the classroom ready for lessons
  • Supporting children in class with reading, visual learning and messy play
  • Assisting those who need extra support through 1:1 and small-group work
  • Completing pupils’ record plans
  • Personal care

The Candidate

  • GCSE Math and English or equivalent
  • Experience or interest in working with children/young people with SEN/SEND needs
  • Ability to relate to children and younger people to build positive relationships

Salary & Hours

Starting salary for a Grade 2 Teaching Assistant is £19,192 actual annual salary (FTE £24,796), working 33 hours per week, Mon–Fri, term time only plus 5 inset days. Benefits include joining the Wellspring Trust. Typical hours are 8.50am–3.55pm (Mon, Tue, Thu), 8.50am–4.10pm (Wed) and 8.50am–3.45pm (Fri).
