About the Role

Monarch Education is seeking a passionate and dedicated SEND Teacher to join a specialist education setting supporting children and young people aged 5 – 19, with a range of additional learning needs.

This rewarding role offers the opportunity to lead a class team and create a nurturing, engaging learning environment where every pupil can thrive. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality, personalised teaching that supports pupils in achieving their academic targets, EHCP outcomes, and wider developmental goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for coordinating and supporting the classroom team to deliver effective learning experiences for all pupils.
  • Plan and deliver creative, inclusive lessons that meet the individual needs and abilities of learners.
  • Foster a supportive and stimulating classroom environment where pupils feel valued, confident, and motivated to succeed.
  • Track, assess, and report on pupil attainment and personal development in accordance with school expectations.
  • Work closely with support staff, therapists, and wider professionals to provide a holistic approach to learning and development.
  • Ensure Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) are effectively implemented, monitored, and reviewed to support positive outcomes.
  • Act as a key point of contact for pupils within your class, contributing to review meetings and collaborating with multi‑agency professionals.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with families, carers, local authorities, and external agencies.
  • Implement targeted support strategies and interventions to promote communication, engagement, and learning progress.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, social development, and emotional resilience across the classroom.
  • Maintain organised and accurate records relating to pupil achievement, attendance, and wellbeing.
  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities at all times, helping to create a safe, secure, and nurturing environment for every pupil.

Requirements

  • PGCE, Certificate in Education, or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status.
  • Experience teaching children or young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Strong understanding of differentiated teaching approaches.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to achieving positive outcomes for pupils with additional needs.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safeguarding practices and responsibilities.
  • Experience working within a specialist SEND, SEN, or alternative provision setting.
  • Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), SEMH, communication needs, or complex learning difficulties.
  • Experience of EHCP planning, implementation, and review processes.
  • Understanding of therapeutic and trauma‑informed approaches.
  • Experience working alongside therapists and external agencies.
