Overview

Our client, Monmouthshire County Council, is looking for a Registered Social Worker to join the Family Support & Protection team. The role focuses on assessment, planning, and safeguarding for children, young people, and their families who require social care involvement to ensure health, wellbeing, and protection from neglect and abuse.

Responsibilities

  • Complete assessments and progress appropriate outcome-focused plans to improve the welfare of children and young people within specified timeframes.
  • Prepare written evidence and progress cases to legal proceedings when it has not been possible to achieve outcomes within the birth family.
  • Build effective relationships with children, young people, families, and carers to understand what matters to them and plan accordingly.
  • Work with multi-agency partners to reduce the level of risk and vulnerability of children and young people.
  • Maintain ongoing professional practice and update case records in line with statutory requirements.
  • Recent experience within the court arena is essential; registration with Social Care Wales (SCW) or Social Care Wales England (SCW/SCE) and willingness to register with SCW if currently not registered.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Registered Social Worker with current registration (SCW/SCE or equivalent).
  • Recent court arena experience.
  • Ability to undertake assessments, plan, and progress cases to resolution or lawful outcomes.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with children, young people, families, and carers.
