SEN Teaching Assistant – Sheffield

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for rewarding opportunities across Sheffield?

Academics, an established Education Agency, are acting as an agency and are currently recruiting an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to work on a temporary, flexible ongoing basis across a variety of welcoming specialist SEN provisions throughout Sheffield. This SEN Teaching Assistant role offers the opportunity to support children and young people with a range of additional needs in specialist educational settings across Sheffield. Some provisions include Post-16 learners, therefore applicants must hold both an Enhanced Child and Adult DBS, or be willing to obtain one.

Position: SEN Teaching Assistant (Specialist SEN Provision)

Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire

Contract: Temporary, flexible ongoing supply

Pay: £92.56 – £100 per day (paid via PAYE, no umbrella company fees, inclusive of holiday pay, dependent on experience, training, qualifications and client rate available)

Start Date: ASAP or a start date that works for you

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with a variety of special educational needs within specialist provisions
  • Deliver individual and small group learning activities
  • Implement EHCP targets and behaviour support strategies
  • Support communication, social interaction and emotional wellbeing
  • Some roles may involve supporting personal care and helping pupils develop independence, communication skills and emotional regulation

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with a variety of special educational needs within specialist provisions
  • Deliver individual and small group learning activities
  • Implement EHCP targets and behaviour support strategies
  • Support communication, social interaction and emotional wellbeing

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience working within SEN schools or specialist provisions, or strong knowledge of SEN
  • Understanding of Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, MLD, SLD, PMLD and associated learning needs
  • Calm, patient and resilient approach
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils
  • Enhanced Child and Adult DBS Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with additional needs
