Permanent | Part-Time | 20 hours per week. Kings School and Nursery in Plymouth is a co-educational independent school for children aged 8 months up to 11 years old. The nursery operates as a lunchtime cover setting, typically 11:30 to 15:30, five days per week.

Role
Nursery Practitioner (lunchtime cover). You will help create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children aged 0–3, with occasional work with children up to 11 years old. You will plan and deliver engaging learning activities within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, support each child’s development and wellbeing, encourage curiosity, and promote positive relationships. You will carry out observations, work closely with parents, carers, and colleagues, and contribute to a warm, inclusive nursery community. You may also support wider school events, staff meetings, and training days as required.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging learning activities aligned with the EYFS framework.
- Observe, assess, and support children’s development and wellbeing.
- Foster curiosity and positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Maintain a safe, caring, and inclusive environment.
- Collaborate with the team to support school events and training days.
- Provide lunch-time supervision and support as part of the nursery provision.
Qualifications and experience
- Ideally qualified to at least NVQ Level 2, CCLD, NNEB, CACHE or equivalent with experience in an Early Years setting.
- Understanding of safeguarding, inclusive practice, and the Key Person system.
- Hands-on, adaptable, and confident in supporting children’s development through creative and structured activities.
