Your new company Our client is a respected and rapidly growing ecological consultancy known for delivering high-quality, evidence-driven environmental solutions across Scotland. With a reputation for excellence in ornithological assessment, habitat management, and ecological advisory work, they partner with a wide range of clients across the renewable energy, infrastructure, conservation, and land management sectors.Due to continued growth and an increasing project workload, they are seeking an enthusiastic ecologist to join their established team and contribute to the successful delivery of ecological surveys and assessments across Scotland.

Your new role As a Field Ecologist, you will support the delivery of a range of ecological projects, undertaking field surveys, collecting ecological data and assisting with technical reporting.You will work alongside experienced ecologists and environmental professionals on a variety of projects, gaining exposure to a range of habitats, protected species work and ecological assessment methodologies.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking habitat and protected species surveys
  • Collecting, analysing and managing ecological field data
  • Assisting with Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs)
  • Supporting Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs)
  • Contributing to the preparation of technical reports and client deliverables
  • Liaising with colleagues, clients and stakeholders as required
  • Ensuring survey work is carried out in accordance with relevant legislation and industry best practice

What you’ll need to succeed

To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Zoology or a related discipline
  • Previous ecological survey experience gained through consultancy, seasonal survey work or a similar environmental role.
  • Knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and ecological survey methodologies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for fieldwork
  • A genuine passion for ecology and environmental conservation
