Job Purpose:

Reporting to the HR Director and working closely with Resourcing and HR Partners, this leadership and delivery role drives group-wide competence, training compliance, and talent development. It provides strategic oversight, operational management, and hands-on delivery of learning and competence assurance across site, offshore, workshop, and office environments, ensuring employees meet Nexos’ standards of safety, quality, and delivery while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and leadership at all levels.

Key Responsibilities:

Training Compliance:

  • Own and ensure full compliance with all training requirements across the Nexos Group, including statutory, regulatory, and customer-mandated training.
  • Monitor and report on training compliance metrics, identifying gaps and driving timely corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with HR, operational leaders, and business units to embed training compliance into daily practices and leadership accountability.
  • Lead audits and inspections related to training compliance, preparing evidence and responding to findings with effective resolution.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date training records and systems to support audit readiness and continuous improvement.
  • Provide leadership and hands-on support to ensure all employees complete mandatory training within required timeframes.

Competence Management:

  • Lead and champion the Nexos Group Competence Management System, ensuring compliance with legislation, customer requirements, and industry standards.
  • Strategically assess, continuously improve, and directly deliver competence frameworks and processes to align with organisational goals.
  • Develop, mentor, and actively support assessors and verifiers, ensuring they are trained, competent, and aligned in delivering high‑quality assessments.
  • Collaborate with business functions to maintain, enhance, and implement organisational capability and workforce competence.
  • Lead reviews, sampling, and audits of assessments, identifying gaps and driving corrective actions with a focus on leadership accountability and hands-on resolution.
  • Maintain accurate, traceable, and audit-ready competence documentation.
  • Serve as the organisational subject matter expert for the CMS, supporting onboarding, ongoing adoption, leadership engagement, and direct intervention where needed.
  • Drive improvement initiatives, deliver corrective actions, and report progress to the Leadership Team, influencing strategic decisions.

Learning & Development:

  • Lead talent development initiatives for high-performing employees, providing strategic advice and directly delivering progression pathways.
  • Design, develop, enhance, and implement the Nexos Graduate Programme to meet capability and succession needs with a leadership and delivery focus.
  • Oversee early careers programmes, acting as the main contact for apprentices and graduates, fostering leadership development and hands-on support.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with external education partners, ensuring delivery of agreed outcomes.
  • Develop SCORM packages for in-house CBTs to support scalable learning solutions.
  • Champion external engagement initiatives such as DYW and Career Ready, promoting Nexos’ leadership in the community.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in Learning & Development and Competence roles, including designing frameworks, managing LMS, and delivering programmes, with demonstrated leadership and hands-on delivery capabilities.
  • Strong track record delivering training and competence assurance in regulated environments.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills with leadership presence.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver results, inspire diverse stakeholders, and execute plans effectively.
