Transport Operations Supervisor

Location: Kirkcaldy

Salary: £40,753

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Additional hours may be required to meet the needs of the business.

The Opportunity:

We’re looking for an experienced Transport Operations Supervisor to lead the day-to-day transport operation at our Kirkcaldy site.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll ensure the fleet operates safely, efficiently and in full compliance with O Licence requirements. You’ll oversee transport planning, fleet utilisation and driver management, ensuring the right products reach the right customers on time while maintaining exceptional service standards.

Working closely with the Transport Operations Manager, Fleet Compliance Manager and Driver Trainer, you’ll play a key role in driving operational excellence, compliance and continuous improvement across the transport function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day-to-day transport operation at the Kirkcaldy site.
  • Ensure full compliance with O Licence obligations and all relevant transport legislation.
  • Support budget management alongside the Transport Operations Manager.
  • Monitor operational performance, safety and service levels, reporting to senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with UK and EU transport, health and safety, and driver regulations.
  • Plan and allocate transport resources to maximise fleet utilisation and meet customer requirements.
  • Oversee driver scheduling, holidays, overtime and associated administration.
  • Promote a positive, professional and safety-focused culture across the team.
  • Coach, develop and motivate drivers and transport colleagues.
  • Manage performance in line with company policies and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and implement operational improvements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the Fleet Compliance Manager to maintain high standards of vehicle presentation and fleet compliance.

About You:

We’re looking for someone who is an effective leader with a strong operational mindset and a passion for delivering outstanding transport performance.

You’ll have:

  • Previous experience in a transport or logistics supervisory or management role.
  • A valid CPC National Certificate.
  • Strong organisational and decision-making skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Excellent communication and people management skills.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • A proactive, flexible approach and the ability to perform under pressure.
  • Experience coaching, motivating and developing teams.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with a focus on delivering results.

Desirable

  • IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
  • Experience working within a unionised environment.
  • Previous experience in bulk tanker operations.
