Location: Leeds (Hybrid, 2-3 days per week in the office)

Salary: £40,000 – £60,000 DOE

The Opportunity

I’m currently working with a well-established insurance organisation based in Leeds that is looking to hire a BI Analyst to join its growing data and analytics team.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering meaningful reporting and business intelligence solutions that help drive strategic decision-making across the organisation. You’ll work closely with stakeholders from across the business to understand reporting requirements, develop insightful dashboards and ensure key decision-makers have access to accurate and actionable data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain business intelligence dashboards and reports for stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Analyse business performance data to identify trends, opportunities and areas for improvement.
  • Gather reporting requirements from business users and translate them into effective BI solutions.
  • Develop and maintain SQL queries to extract, manipulate and analyse data.
  • Ensure the accuracy, consistency and quality of reporting across multiple data sources.
  • Work closely with Data Engineers and wider technology teams to improve reporting capabilities.
  • Produce regular management information and KPI reporting for senior leadership.
  • Support ad-hoc analysis to answer key business questions.
  • Document reporting processes and maintain reporting standards.
  • Promote best practices around reporting, data quality and business intelligence.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience as a BI Analyst, Data Analyst or similar role.
  • Strong SQL skills with experience querying relational databases.
  • Experience developing dashboards using Power BI.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate complex data.
  • Experience gathering business requirements and working with stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment.

Desirable Skills

  • Previous experience within the insurance, financial services or other regulated industries.
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modelling.
  • Exposure to Python or R for data analysis.
  • Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices.
  • Experience working within Agile environments.
