A well-established, family-run SME within the retail sector is looking to appoint a hands-on Finance Manager / Company Accountant to support its growing operations. Based in Erdington, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a stable, close-knit business where you can take real ownership of the day-to-day finance function. Description: n Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will play a key role in managing the day-to-day finances of one arm of the business, allowing senior leadership to focus on strategic growth is a varied and practical role, ideal for someone who enjoys working in an SME environment and being involved across all aspects of finance. Key Responsibilities

  • Production of monthly management accounts with analysis
  • n

  • Full responsibility for A-Z accounts
  • n

  • VAT returns and HMRC compliance
  • n

  • Overseeing day-to-day bookkeeping activities
  • n

  • Managing sales and purchase ledger
  • n

  • Processing payment runs and managing cash flow
  • n

  • Bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations
  • n

  • Payroll processing (in-house)
  • n

  • Supporting budgeting and forecasting
  • n

  • Stock and inventory accounting
  • n

  • Credit control and aged debt management
  • n

  • Supporting year-end processes and liaising with external accountants
  • n

  • Ensuring financial controls and processes are maintained and improved

What you'll need to succeed:

n

    n

  • Experience in a similar Finance Manager / Company Accountant role
  • n

  • Strong all-round accounting knowledge (AAT / part-qualified / QBE considered)
  • n

  • Comfortable working in a hands-on SME environment
  • n

  • Experience with VAT, payroll, and management accounts
  • n

  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • n

  • Confident communicator who can work closely with senior stakeholders
