Litigation Lawyer (Corporate Governance)Trafford Town Hall, Manchester, M32 0TH – hybrid workingContract: PermanentFull time (36 hours)Overview of the Litigation Lawyer roleSellick Partnership is excited to be partnering with Trafford Council who are currently looking for a Litigation Lawyer to join their busy Litigation Legal Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate Litigation Lawyer who is willing to join a lively, prosperous local authority in a friendly environment where your personal and professional development will be encouraged.Key responsibilities of the Litigation Lawyer will includeThe Litigation Legal Team sits alongside a Corporate Legal Team and covers wide and vast areas of law, providing the postholder an opportunity to learn and develop new skills and expertise in the following areas: Criminal and Civil Litigation including advocacy n Licensing law and public protection n Employment law n Enforcement of regulatory matters, including prosecutions (Environmental Health, Food Safety, Health and Safety and Work, Licensing, Planning and Trading Standards)n Anti-social behaviour and community safety n Local Authority Housing n National Non-Domestic Rates litigation n Commercial disputes n GDPR, Data Protection and Freedom of Information n Local Government law and procedures

Required experience/qualifications of the Litigation Lawyer position will includeYou will be a qualified solicitor, barrister, or Chartered Lawyer / Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives holding a current practising certificate n Representing Legal Services team at committee meetings and also representing the council’s interests with external organisations n Supporting the Principal Solicitors, Monitoring Officer and Deputy Monitoring Officer as required n Possessing up-to-date knowledge in respect of national trends, policy, legislation, guidelines, initiatives and best practice in Legal and Local Government n Communicating and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, building partnerships and productive working relationships to achieve shared objectivesYou will need to have experience in drafting and will be skilled at drafting legal documentation
