We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Paediatrician with a specialist interest in Weight Management to join our Acute Paediatric Team in Hywel Dda. You will play a central role in shaping the future of Paediatric Weight Management care in Hywel Dda. Together, you will provide compassionate, evidence‑based care to meet the needs of our local population. As part of the role, you will contribute to teaching and training, supporting medical students and junior staff, while also engaging in audit, research, and service development.

Main duties of the job
- Provide and coordinate a comprehensive Weight Management service for Children and Young People, covering all aspects of clinical care, leadership, and associated management responsibilities.
- Lead and support research activity within the Acute Paediatric service, ensuring alignment with the HDUHB Research and Development framework and informing future service delivery.
- Develop the Paediatric Weight Management service through effective collaboration with other healthcare providers, external organisations, and agencies.
- Provide professional leadership for Acute Paediatric teams, fostering a positive and productive working environment.
- Work closely with clinical and professional colleagues to maintain the productivity and job satisfaction of Paediatric staff, which may include participating in staff appraisal processes.
- Represent HDUHB at regional and national groups related to Weight Management, such as Managed Clinical Networks, where appropriate.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential
- Full registration and a License to Practice with the General Medical Council.
- On the GMC Specialist Register (including via Portfolio Pathway (CESR)/European Community Rights) or will have CCT due within six months of interview date. Portfolio Pathway (formerly CESR) applicants must be on the Specialist Register at the point of application.
- Valid Certified Advanced Life Support.
- Where a sub‑specialty interest is required sub‑specialty training should be to a level appropriate for UK consultant sub‑specialist practice – fellowship or equivalent level experience.
- MRCPCH by examination or equivalent.

- Additional Higher qualification(s).
