Role Overview
We seek a highly experienced and credible Senior Electrical Consultant to join our growing Asset Management capability. As a trusted advisor, you will work closely with clients to identify, assess, and mitigate complex machinery and functional safety risks, often operating at a senior level. You will also play a central role in developing services, growing client relationships, and expanding our presence in high‑risk sectors including Energy, Food & Drink, Mining, and Waste & Recycling.
This role is ideal for an individual who combines deep technical expertise with strong consultancy judgment, is motivated by the opportunity to shape client outcomes, influence industry practice, and develop a growing capability.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Act as a recognised authority delivering complex consultancy, including machinery safety and risk assessments (ISO 12100, PUWER), UKCA/CE marking, and Technical File development.
- Functional Safety: Lead functional safety lifecycle activities, including Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS), verification via SISTEMA, and validation.
- Client Advisory: Provide clear, pragmatic, and defensible advice to senior stakeholders, supporting risk‑informed investment decisions; deliver expert opinion and support Expert Witness activities.
- Capability & Growth: Lead the development of service offerings in machinery/functional safety and drive business growth by identifying new consultancy opportunities and leading proposals.
- Mentorship: Mentor and develop junior consultants, strengthening our internal technical capability and fostering a culture of technical excellence.
- Project Management: Manage complex projects from scope definition through to delivery, ensuring high‑quality outputs and client satisfaction.
Key Qualifications
- Experience: Significant experience in electrical engineering or machinery safety; extensive expertise in PUWER, ISO 12100, and functional safety (SRS, SISTEMA, validation).
- Qualifications: Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related discipline; Chartered Engineer (CEng) status (or demonstrable progress toward it) is essential; training in BS7671 (18th Edition) or equivalent (e.g., IEC 60204) is required.
- Attributes: Credible and authoritative, confident to advise at senior levels; commercially astute, pragmatic problem solver, collaborator passionate about developing others.
