About Eleanor Cross Healthcare

Eleanor Cross Healthcare is a multisite GP practice currently serving over nineteen thousand patients in an expanding area, with seven clinical GP Partners, one Clinical Pharmacist Partner, and a nursing team of 12 that includes ANP, Minor Illness, Practice Nurses, a Mental Health Practitioner and an HCA.

Role Overview

We are looking for a part‑time Healthcare Assistant to join our nursing team, providing the best care for our patients and supporting the Practice Nursing Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide phlebotomy services for patients.
  • Conduct new patient health checks, including urinalysis and ECG recording.
  • Chaperone patients during examinations and procedures.
  • Implement infection prevention and control (IPC) measures.
  • Assist with wound management and minor operations.
  • Maintain clinical equipment and record daily refrigerator temperatures, ordering stock as required.
  • Document patient consultations in the SystmOne clinical information system.
  • Process and manage laboratory samples: label, send promptly, and enter data into patient records.
  • Restock supplies and health promotion materials in clinical areas, ensuring stock rotation.
  • Perform general nursing duties under supervision, such as urine testing, weight/height, blood pressure measurements, ECG recording, NHS HealthChecks, spirometry, peak flow measurements, and smoking cessation advice.
  • Assist with telephone inquiries, document messages, and communicate to clinical team members as necessary.
  • Ensure drug/vaccine refrigerators maintain correct temperature daily and keep cold‑chain records.
  • Maintain health information notice board in line with national/local health promotion campaigns.
  • Complete SystmOne tasks promptly and in accordance with written protocols.
  • Attend relevant clinical meetings and participate in staff and trainee induction programmes.
  • Report immediately any omissions or errors to safeguard patient interests.
  • Undertake formal training as required by the practice.
  • Ensure building security by familiarising with doors, windows, and alarm systems.

Qualifications

Experience working in a collaborative nursing team.
