Substance Misuse Recovery Worker

We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to join our team at HMP Full Sutton near York. HMP Full Sutton is a Category A male prison with a capacity of around 600 and offers a rewarding, challenging, and unique environment to learn and develop.
Join the Recovery Team and empower those who wish to change their behaviour to promote health and well-being through recovery from drugs and alcohol. This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients and delivering outstanding care.
Hours
This is a full time role, 37.5 hours per week. Shifts are Monday to Friday, 8am‑4pm and 9am‑5pm.
Salary
Annual salary up to £33,510 per annum.

Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of psychosocial patients with varying needs, including substance misuse, mental health, trauma, etc.
- Work with receptions (new patients entering the prison), triage and carry out assessments
- Deliver group sessions on overdose awareness, harm reduction, motivation to change, relapse prevention and wellbeing
- Deliver SMART sessions, Narcotics Anonymous, Inside Out etc.
- Provide a programme of psychosocial interventions and comprehensive assessments, including SMART Recovery
- Provide information and advice on substance misuse, alcohol, smoking cessation, blood borne viruses and safe sex practices
- Prepare patients for release and transfer
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience within substance misuse, ideally a prison or secure environment and ideally within a Recovery Worker / Practitioner role
- Experience of working within the substance misuse multi-disciplinary framework, including housing, social care, health care and mental health pathways
- Experience of managing a caseload
- Flexible approach and excellent communication skills
- Legal right to work in the UK; additional vetting and security checks will be required
