Role Summary
We are looking for enthusiastic Ambulance Care Assistants to transport non‑urgent patients to and from hospitals, treatment centres and private residences. The role requires a caring, professional attitude and teamwork, with duties performed in a variety of vehicle types.
Responsibilities
- Transport frail or specialist‑needs patients safely to and from health and social care premises.
- Work independently or as part of a two‑person team.
- Ensure a professional and caring environment for all patients.
- Operate vehicle safely, complying with all road regulations.
- Attend a 3‑week paid training course (Monday–Friday) covering clinical and patient‑transport training to become a ‘First Person on Scene’.
- Attend training and training sites in the Bedfordshire–Hertfordshire–Essex–Norfolk–Suffolk and Cambridgeshire region.
Qualifications
- Full UK manual driving licence with a minimum of one year’s driving experience.
- Maximum of 3 penalty points will be considered for a minor motoring offence.
- Previous experience in a caring profession and demonstrated customer‑care and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to flexible, discreet and sometimes humorous situations.
- Local knowledge of the area of employment is an advantage.
Training
The initial 3‑week paid training includes clinical duties, patient transport proficiency, and practical driving skills. A complete uniform is provided.
