About the role
As aBand 5 School Nurse, you will work as part of a supportive public health nursing team to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care to school-aged children and their families.You will contribute to the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme and support children and young people with a wide range of health needs across schools, clinics, homes and community venues.
Working under the supervision of a Senior School Nurse or Team Leader, you will manage a delegated caseload and play a key role in promoting physical, emotional and mental wellbeing, early intervention and prevention.
Main responsibilities
Support the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme across universal and targeted services
Undertake health assessments and provide evidence-based advice and interventions for children and young people
Deliver health promotion activities within schools and community settings
Support vulnerable children and families in line with safeguarding and early help frameworks
Work collaboratively with schools, families and partner agencies to improve outcomes for children and young people
Contribute to school and community-based drop-in clinics
Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to service improvement initiatives
Participate in supervision, training and continuing professional development
About you
You will be a Registered Nurse with a passion for improving the health and wellbeing of children and young people.You will be confident working within a multidisciplinary team and committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
You will have:
Current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse
Experience of working with children, young people and families
Strong communication and organisational skills
Knowledge of safeguarding, child development and evidence-based practice
A full driving licence and access to a car for community working
Experience within school nursing, health visiting or community nursing would be desirable, but not essential.
